When you’re fighting to overcome drug and alcohol addiction, it can be hard to find the resources and assistance you need, especially early in your recovery. We at The Other Side have all faced that predicament ourselves. That’s why The Other Side wanted to share with you some of the great organizations and resources that we’ve found helpful in our own recoveries. Alcoholics Anonymous World Services
This is the official web site of the General Service Office (G.S.O.) of Alcoholics Anonymous. Find everything you want to learn about A.A. here.
Northern Illinois Area 20
Find out about A.A., meetings, events and specific resources in Northern Illinois.
Alcoholics Anonymous Northern Illinois Area District 11
District 11 serves Algonquin, Burton’s Bridge, Cary, Crystal Lake, Fox River Grove, Harvard, Huntley, Johnsburg, Marengo, McHenry, Richmond, Spring Grove, Union, Wauconda, Wonder Lake and Woodstock. The 24-hour answering service is (815) 455-3311.
International Conference of Young People in A.A. (ICYPAA)
Learn about ICYPAA, which helps carry the message of recovery to alcoholics of all ages.
ISCYPAA is an annual Alcoholics Anonymous conference held in Illinois. It is an event for any and all members of A.A., and is organized primarily by young, recovering alcoholics. Young is defined as “room to grow”.
Al-Anon Family Groups
Friends and families of problem drinkers find understanding and support at Al-Anon and Alateen Meetings. Learn about Al-Anon and Alateen here.
McHenry Soberfest is an annual conference hosted by the McHenry’s Soberfest Group of Northern Illinois Area 20. This conference has meetings and activities for A.A., Al-Anon and Alateen members.
